Niska Paskwâhk Disc Golf Course

Edmonton, AB - Established 2022

The Niska Paskwâhk course is an 18-hole disc golf course that winds around the Alberta Hospital Edmonton (AHE), a mental health and addiction recovery facility in northeast Edmonton.  The course opened in September of 2022 after a summer of hard work, and with donations from the Edmonton Disc Golf Association (EDGA) and the Mental Health Foundation [Video].  The goal was to create a safe outdoor sport and exercise opportunity for patients and staff.  With the low barrier to entry, Disc Golf is a fantastic outdoor sport accessible by most patients.

The course is open to patients, their families, staff and EDGA members. Those using the course create community connections and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. It is our belief that learning a new sport, socializing with peers and getting moving also benefits patients, and the grounds are a great place to interact with nature – including the course's namesake.

Niska Paskwâhk is Cree and translates to "Goose Meadows" and these birds are a regular fixture during the spring and fall months.

  • A classic 18-hole layout with minimal elevation and great shot variety.
